500 Shoeboxes Packed for Operation Christmas Child
On the evening of November 8th, the Maleno Real Estate and Maleno Property Management teams joined together at Calamari’s Squid Row to build and pack 500 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. There were 35 adults and children who worked in unison to pack these in time for National Collection Week—Nov 12th -19th. Children in need, throughout the world, will be delighted to receive their own shoebox filled with necessities and toys.
Opertion Christmas Child is a program through Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization, whose mission is to.provide spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.
Maleno has been packing boxes since 2014 when they started with 100 boxes. The following year they doubled it to 200 boxes, then 400, and now 500 shoeboxes thanks to contributions from employees, customers, and friends. "We feel very blessed within the Erie community and look for ways to give back", says Natalie Washburn, Broker/Owner of Maleno Real Estate. "Family is such a central core of our personal and professional lives. Operation Christmas Child seemed like a natural blending of the two. We're proud of our employees and customers who continue to volunteer for this worthy cause".
