New Home Design Coordinator 

The New Home Design Coordinator assists and manages customers by providing interior design and sales services, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and customer excellence which meet and exceed customer satisfaction goals, financial results, and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Introduces purchasers to Design Gallery, including services offered, design process and objectives
  • Always ensures appearance and cleanliness of Design Gallery
  • Maintains notes and files throughout the design process to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Proposes design and finishing solutions to achieve a purchaser’s objectives, including lifestyle needs assessment and budget while acting as a purchaser’s advisor in cases where they do not have a third-party designer
  • Coordinates the scheduling of purchaser appointments and the selection of interior fixtures, fittings and finishes within the schedule determined by Maleno
  • Encourages incremental progress toward the completion of a purchaser’s selections to avoid customer perception of pressure to finalize while maintaining the construction schedule within cut-off dates
  • Presents and finalizes completed selections once all materials and pricing have been obtained
  • Finalizes all necessary documentation at time of sign-off and secure payments as required
  • Provides project management with actionable drawings and written instructions for the construction of homes with modifications or special features
  • Liaises with trades and construction teams for production issues, problems, discontinued products, errors and find solutions that may or may not involve the purchaser
  • Selects interior finishes with Sales for unsold inventory suites prior to cut-off dates
  • Completes on-site inspections when required to monitor the implementation of home customization and the transition to higher finish levels within a project
  • Supply’s project management with additional detail drawings and clarification of design specifications as required throughout construction
  • Promotes and respects the Maleno brand and the company’s mission, values, and code of conduct
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

Technical Competencies:


A College Diploma or Interior Design degree or diploma is an asset and/or proven job experience in high-end custom home construction.


A minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience. Previous experience in a design Gallery, retail or customer service is considered an asset.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Polished and professional in manner and appearance
  • Consultative sales training and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with a broad range of design styles
  • Experience specifying materials for interiors to meet specific client criteria
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of color and design styles is an asset
  • Ability to read design plans is an asset
  • Patience when dealing with customers
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
